Definitely not a Suspicious Shopfront
“We sell things”
Definitely not a Suspicious Shopfront is a gallery installation of a storefront that definitely isn't selling suspicious things.
The Floating Goose Studios Inc. Gallery will be transformed into a peculiar storefront selling salvaged oddities created for the exhibition.
Peruse the objects and artworks on the floor. Per-haps buy from what's ‘under-the-counter’!? Also, what's out the back?
Over three weeks the recycled shop counter will be deconstructed and repurposed, transformed into an evolving installation of art-objects. The audience will be able to view the progression through the gallery windows; Mondays-Wednesdays as Soeffky dismantels and rebuilds.
During the public access opening hours; Thursday - Sunday you can enter the gallery and explore the new creations, and growing piles of sawdust.
Over the three week period the suspicious shopfront will be changing and evolving, but always inviting the audience to consider the re-use, repair and transformation of old things. What will the final outcomes be? Find out at the closing event on the 23rd of August.
31 July - 23rd August 2026
Stephen Soeffky is a finalist in the City of Adelaide Award and the City Rural Emerging Artist Award for work in this exhibition.
